Ambassador opens our new Tokyo office to enable continued business expansion

Our Tokyo operation has moved to larger offices as our Japanese business continues to grow. Our new premises were officially opened in a reception event yesterday by the British Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Paul Madden.

We made the move to accommodate the current Tokyo team of 22 employees and enable further expansion. Our new office — in a building of striking, contemporary architecture — is in Shinbashi, a short walk from our previous premises and in one of central Tokyo’s most vibrant business districts.

We held the reception event to thank people for supporting our business over the years. In addition to the British Ambassador (below right, next to Greg Sutch, Intralink CEO), guests included Mr Kiyoshi Ishida, President of the IIJ Innovation Institute (below left - leading the toast to our new offices), many of our Japanese clients, other prominent members of the Japanese business community and government dignitaries.

Intralink first opened for business in Tokyo in 1990 to help British firms expand their business in Japan. We’ve grown continuously since then, handling assignments in Japan for over 300 British, European and North American companies. These have ranged from global firms including British Telecom, John Lewis and Dyson to many smaller, institutionally-backed technology companies.

We’re also supporting an increasing number of Japanese companies with their overseas activities as they recognise considerable opportunities in Europe, the USA and other parts of Asia. These clients include NTT Data, Saison Information Systems, Asahi Glass, IIJ, Hitachi and Nissan.

Intralink CEO, Greg Sutch, who spoke at our reception, said: “When we first opened in Tokyo, we were just one person in the UK and two in Japan. Our move to larger premises is a good time to look back at how things have changed.

“Since our small beginnings, our business has continued to develop in Tokyo while we’ve opened additional offices in China, Korea, Taiwan and the US. We’re proud to have enabled a great many businesses to grow in Japan — and are now increasingly helping Japanese companies with their activities in the West.

“Of course, we’d have achieved none of this without the support of our clients, partners, associates and friends. We’re extremely grateful for their continued loyalty as we look forward to further growth — for us and our clients — and many more exciting times ahead!”
