We’re happy to be supporting the Team Canada Trade Mission to South Korea that’s taking place next week.
Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade & Economic Development, the Honourable Mary Ng, will be leading more than 250 delegates during this high-profile trade mission to nurture long-term trade and investment opportunities.
Team Canada Trade Missions are a key initiative within Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy to help Canadian businesses diversify and tap into a region that represents significant opportunities for economic growth.
South Korea is Canada's sixth largest import and export partner, with trade reaching $21.9 billion in 2022 – underpinned by the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement – and plenty more potential.
We’ve been asked to help Canadian cleantech and life sciences companies participating in the mission to explore their opportunities in South Korea, based on our track record of helping western companies to expand in these fields.
Our Seoul team will give detailed market briefings to the delegates. We’ll also facilitate visits to LG Science Park and Bumhan Fuel Cell, to learn about the companies’ sustainable growth programmes, and to Seoul National University Hospital, one of the largest university hospitals in Korea.
Most importantly, we’re arranging carefully targeted meetings with potential Korean customers and partners for each of the Canadian companies. With 30 Canadian cleantech and life science firms due to take part, we’re securing more than 200 meetings, which should initiate many productive commercial discussions for the firms involved.
Our role in the Canadian trade mission is part of our broader trade and investment work for government agencies around the world, from North America and Europe to the Middle East and Asia.
