Accelerating China growth for Italian cybersecurity client

We're excited to announce a business development initiative designed to support Italian cybertesting pioneer Drivesec in expanding its customer base in China.

Founded in Turin in 2017, Drivesec is redefining how the cybertesting of Internet of Things (IoT) devices is conducted. Its flagship product is a remote test platform that helps automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers ensure their products meet cybersecurity regulations, minimising the time and costs associated with external test centres.

The company has just secured a Series A fundraising round of €3 million from LIFTT Euroinvest – a partnership between the European Investment Bank and VC firm LIFTT – and Levante Capital, an early-growth fund focused on high-potential industrial solutions poised for expansion in Asia.

After establishing a strong customer base in Italy, Germany and Switzerland, Drivesec is now set to grow beyond Europe – and China’s rapidly expanding automotive market represents a compelling frontier for its cybersecurity solutions.

In an industry where new models were launched almost daily in late 2024, Drivesec’s platform provides Chinese automakers with a critical competitive edge by accelerating product launch timelines and ensuring adherence to stringent cybersecurity regulations. This is particularly important for manufacturers aiming to become global industry leaders.

Our Shanghai team will kick off this expansion programme by conducting a thorough market assessment and analysing Asia’s automotive cybersecurity regulations to ensure Drivesec’s technology can be adapted to the necessary standards.

Following this initial assessment, the team will engage major automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and industrial IoT device makers – focusing on the electric vehicle (EV) sector – to drive the adoption of our client’s platform in the Asian cybertesting market.

Drivesec’s CEO, Giuseppe Faranda Cordella, said: “China – and Asia more broadly – are essential destinations for us because their auto sectors are so dynamic. Competition there is intense, especially in EV development, and our platform can save OEMs vital time and money.

“Intralink was introduced to us by Levante Capital – and for good reason. Its Shanghai team has close connections with China’s auto OEMs and Tier 1s and extensive hands-on experience of selling technology in the country’s automotive and cybersecurity sectors. We’re looking forward to working with the team to take big steps forward in China.”
