We’re kicking off a business development programme in China for Silicon Valley-based autonomous vehicle pioneer Deepen AI.
Established in 2017, Deepen AI is the only safety-first data lifecycle company focused on machine learning and AI for autonomous systems. Providing tools and services that are customisable for enterprises as well as startups, they have happy customers of every size across the globe.
Deepen AI has offices in Detroit, Hyderabad, Munich and Tokyo as well as its Californian HQ. The company is already working with auto OEMs and tiers across the US, Europe and Japan and has now set its sights on China – the world’s largest automotive market.
China saw domestic sales of 26 million vehicles last year, with at least a quarter of these autonomous to some degree. The country’s Level 4 driverless vehicle segment is expected to be worth $8 billion this year and to grow to almost $24 billion by 2024.
But despite this, most Chinese automotive R&D teams are still highly dependent on time-consuming, manual processes, and automation of this kind should be game changing for them.
Our Shanghai-based mobility team – led by Daniel Kollar, Head of our global Automotive Practice – will identify the best prospective customers for our new client, concentrating on China’s auto OEMs, tier 1 suppliers, robotaxi fleets and sensor makers.
The team will drive a comprehensive business development programme to sell Deepen AI’s technologies to these prospects. It will also develop and implement a strategy to enable our client to provide technical support and cloud hosting in China.
Mohammad Musa, Deepen AI’s CEO, said “We’ve established a strong reputation across the US, Europe and Japan. So we felt this was the right point for us to tackle the biggest automotive market of all.
“At the same time, we recognize China is challenging to break into, and we knew we needed specialized support. We hired Intralink’s Shanghai team as they clearly have extensive connections across China’s automotive sector, in-depth sector expertise and the tenacity to secure deals on our behalf.”
